That’s why Arval developed Arval Active Link, it’s in-house telematics solution. By equipping your vehicle with Arval Active Link, Arval collects the necessary data allowing to better manage the real vs. contractual mileage to anticipate contract adjustments. In case of theft and following your permission, the vehicle can be tracked and easily recovered.
This page informs you about your rights as a driver, all the data being collected, the purpose of this data collection and the retention of the data.
1. Data collection
Arval Active Link’s telematics device allows for the collection of data concerning the use of the vehicle when operated by the driver. The device contains GPS technology that registers the GPS position (location) of the vehicle when the engine is switched off. GPS positions are however only part of the Device’s firmware and cannot be accessed by Arval, except in case of theft. The device also contains a number of sensors that register data concerning the vehicle’s performance and driving.
The device transmits such data to Arval and/or Artel SA (Arval’s sub-contractor). Transmission can happen instantaneously or with a time-lag or on special request. The data can also be derived from the device by way of other techniques which may be relevant in case of any damage to the vehicle or the device.
2. Disclosure of collected data
Arval will not disclose the collected data to third parties except to:
insurance companies (or insurance intermediaries) in case of theft;
public authorities when such disclosure is justified in a legitimate interest that overrides the interest of the driver, such as theft;
suppliers of Arval if and to the extent they need such data to perform services to the driver.

The device gives Arval the possibility to receive certain personal data that Arval will only use for limited purposes. The data, purposes and the retention period of the data are set out below:
4. Rights of the Driver
At any time, the driver has the right to:
obtain a copy of their personal data being processed;
request any corrections or adjustments to the processed data or any rectifications or erasure of (irregular) data;
request the restriction of the processing of the personal data in accordance with applicable privacy legislation;
contact the Commissie voor de Bescherming van de Persoonlijk Levenssfeer / Commission de la Protection de la Vie Privée if Arval does not comply with applicable privacy legislation.
