Even in the smallest segments, 8 out of 10 orders are for fully electric vehicles

Arval Mobility Observatory 15 Jan 2026

Around 9 out of 10 company vehicles ordered in 2025 through mobility solutions company Arval are fully electric. Electrification has also made significant inroads into the small vehicle segment, as shown by last year's top 10. Kia's EV3, BMW's iX1 and Skoda's Elroq occupy the top three spots. "As expected, small electric SUVs proved to be the most popular in 2025," says Christophe Janssen, Arval Mobility Observatory Belgium.

Anyone who ordered a new company car last year will most likely need a charging station. 87.2% of all vehicles ordered from Arval run solely on electric power, while 5.25% of customers ordered a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV). Only 2 of the 300 company cars ordered (0.66%) are still equipped with a diesel engine. Petrol cars, whether hybrid or not thanks to a small battery, account for around 6.9% of orders.

"2025 was the year when fully electric vehicles accounted for around 80% of orders in all segments. Whereas in previous years, small vehicles were often equipped with a petrol engine, mainly due to the lack of available models, this is no longer the case today, as our top 10 shows. Small SUVs in the lower price segments occupy the top spots."

Small SUVs win gold, silver and bronze

The most popular company car of 2025 comes from KIA, as the EV3 model was the most ordered at Arval. Second place goes to BMW's smallest SUV, the iX1, and the last place on the podium is occupied by the Skoda Elroq. The complete top 10 includes seven SUVs, two saloons and one estate car.

Compared to 2024, Tesla's popular Y and 3 models are no longer in the top 10 this year. The Y ranks 12th for 2025, while the Model 3 ranks 17th. The most popular PHEV is the BMW X1, which ranks 44th in the overall rankings for 2025.

The revamped CLA and iX3 reach new heights

A closer look at orders placed in the second half of 2025 reveals that two renewed models from the premium brands Mercedes and BMW are proving highly successful. While the new CLA ranks 8th in the annual ranking for 2025, it climbs to second place when considering only the second half of the year. The new iX3 does not appear in the annual ranking, but it ranks ninth for the second half of 2025.

"The Mercedes CLA could be ordered from the second quarter onwards, while the new BMW iX3 was only available from September 2025. For both brands, these vehicles are indicative of what the future holds for them. And as is traditional, the Belgian company car market is fairly loyal to brands. This is still reflected in orders today."
